History of Moore Street

One of Dublin’s oldest marketplaces, this historical street has housed traders since the 18th century. Moore Street lives and breathes the story of Dublin through the traders and stalls that have long lived on its cobbled streets. These bricks and buildings have housed members of the Irish Volunteers during battle at the 1916 Easter Rising, with their history written just around the corner in the GPO.

From fruit and vegetables, to more multicultural produce, the merchant culture of Moore Street is woven into the fabric of the city, home to generations of traders and welcoming many more to come. This street now reflects the diversity of Dublin City, offering a variety of international foods and produce, and the sing-song of the fruit and veg traders luring in customers still rings loud and proud.
